KNOCKBACK ATTACK:

Characters can take a -5 penalty to their Close Attack to send their opponent flying back. If the Attack Roll is successful, the target takes damage from the attack, and also goes flying back. They are sent a Knockback Rank distance = to Attacker's Strength - Target's Mass - 2.

If the target crashes into an obstacle, both the target and the object take damage: The target takes damage = to Knockback Rank OR Toughness of the obstacle (whichever is less). (This damage may be reduced with the Acrobatics skill like a fall.) The obstacle takes damage = to the character's Strength or Knockback Rank (whichever is less). If the obstacle is damaged or broken, the target continues through the obstacle, reducing the Knockback Rank by the object's toughness.

When the target stops moving, he must pass a DC: 15 Agility/Acrobatics check to avoid falling prone.

SHOVE ATTACK:

This is a modified Trip Action. In a shoving attack, an attacker may attempt to push his opponent back with a -2 penalty to his result. If the attack succeeds, an opposed Athletics/Strength check is made. If the attacker wins, the target is sent back the attacker's Strength - Mess - 2. Damage or other effects may occur as complications.

KNOCKBACK AS A COMPLICATION: Player characters that are knocked back by any attack are sent back the normal Knockback distance, and land prone (with no Acrobatics Check). PC's who suffer this complication earn the standard Hero Point Award.
